SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS Each year, the AAP gives out college scholarships to college-bound students and a professional development grant to a deserving educator. The awards are presented at the AAP’s annual end-of-the-school-year dinner.William Poulos, son of Nancy Poulos, Jeremy Novitsky, son of Candette Novitsky, and Rebecca Milian, daughter of Dana Billman, received the 2012 Stewart Weiner Scholarship Award of $1,000 each. All recipients must be children of AAP members in good standing and college-bound.The AAP also presented 15 students with the annual Marty Safran Awards for exemplary leadership and citizenry. Each child received a plaque and a $100 savings bond. For more information about applying for these awards, see the descriptions below. THE MARTIN SAFRAN AWARD Martin Safran was an Assistant Principal who symbolized all that Assistant Principals aspire to. In his honor, we hold an annual scholarship award dinner at which we award $100 savings bonds and plaques to 13 students from New York city who give of themselves to their school and/or community. Students who have demonstrated exemplary service to school and/or community
and are nominated by his/her Assistant Principal, who is an AAP member
in good standing, are eligible. (Limit 3 applications per school.) THE STEWART WEINER COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP The late Stewart Weiner, the former Assistant Principal of PS 20, Manhattan, an AAP member, an esteemed colleague and dear friend, was the personification of the adage, "No one stands as tall as he who stoops to help a child." CLICK HERE FOR THIS YEAR'S WINNERS AND PICTURES All AAP members whose child will graduate from high school in June 2012 are invited to apply for this scholarship.
